Batting - Forward Defence

The Forward Defence is a defensive shot played to a ball which pitches full or on a 'good length'.

Key points

- Get your head forward and on the line of the ball

- Bend the front knee and angle the bat down so that the ball doesn't go in the air

- Play with the bat vertical and close to your front pad

- Once you've played the shot don't just stop - you might be able to run a quick single
